Social Length Checker — Figma plugin

Select a text layer in Figma and instantly see its character and word count, and whether it fits the limits of the main social platforms (X, Threads, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube). Updates live as you change the selection.

For social media managers and designers laying out posts and captions in Figma.

Privacy

The plugin reads only the text of the layers you have selected, to count characters. It makes no network calls (networkAccess: none) and sends no data anywhere.

Files

Try it in Figma (development)

1. In the Figma desktop app: menu → Plugins → Development → Import plugin from manifest…
2. Select this folder's manifest.json.
3. Select a text layer → Plugins → Development → Social Length Checker.

(If import asks for a unique id, create a new dev plugin via Plugins → Development → New plugin…, then replace the generated code.js / ui.html with these files and merge manifest.json, keeping the id Figma generated.)

Publishing to the Figma Community

1. Plugins → Development → Social Length Checker → Publish…
2. Add a name, description, tags, an icon (128×128) and a cover image (1920×960).
3. Submit — Figma Community review is light (no OAuth/verification).
