See your Claude and Cursor usage right in your Mac's menu bar. Click the little gauge to open a small window with two tabs. One shows how much of your Claude limits you've used. The other shows what you're spending on Cursor.
Not an official app. It's free and open source, and it is not made by or connected to Anthropic or Cursor.
What it shows
- Claude: how much of your 5-hour and weekly limits you've used (the same
numbers you see when you run
claude /usage), any extra charges, and a 30-day cost chart. - Cursor: your own spending, with a 1, 7, or 30-day view.
- In the menu bar: pick one number to keep an eye on without clicking. A Claude limit, or your Cursor spend today or over the last 7 days.

Install
You need a Mac running macOS 13 or newer. If you've never built a Mac app before, run this once to get the tools Apple needs:
xcode-select --install
Then run:
git clone https://github.com/jcubiro/slopbill && cd slopbill
./install.sh
That's all. SlopBill builds itself, moves into your Applications folder, sets itself to open when you log in, and launches. Look for the gauge icon near the top-right of your screen.
The first time it reads your Claude login, your Mac asks if that's OK. Click Always Allow. You don't need to pay for anything.
Setting it up
Click the gauge, then:
Claude
Nothing to do. SlopBill uses the Claude login that's already on your Mac. If it doesn't connect, open Claude Code, sign in, and open SlopBill again.
Cursor
Two options, and you can switch between them anytime in Settings, Connections:
- Use your Cursor login (the default). This just works if you have the Cursor app and you're signed in. It shows your own spending, works for anyone on a team, and needs no key.
- Use an admin key. This is for team admins who want Cursor's official setup. You paste a key from the Cursor dashboard.
Make it yours
Open Settings (the gear icon) to:
- Menu bar shows: pick the number pinned to the bar (a Claude limit, Claude's guessed cost, or your Cursor spend today or over 7 days).
- Open at login: on by default.
- Connections: see how each service is connected and how reliable that is.
About the numbers
- Your Claude limit percentages and extra charges are real. They come straight
from Anthropic and match what you see when you run
claude /usage. Extra charges are money you're actually billed after you pass your plan's limits. - The Claude cost chart is a guess, not a real bill. It shows what your usage would cost if you paid the normal API prices. It's just a way to see how much you're using. Your paid plan already covers it.
- Your Cursor spending is real. It's the actual amount Cursor charged you.
Tap the small ⓘ next to anything in the app to read this again right there.
Your privacy
SlopBill is boring on purpose when it comes to your data:
- Your logins stay only in your Mac's Keychain. They're read-only. They're never saved to a file, printed to a log, or sent anywhere except Anthropic and Cursor.
- No tracking. It only talks to Anthropic and Cursor, using your own login.
- To disconnect, clear the connection in Settings and quit the app. You can read the full details in the app under the gear menu, Privacy & data.
How it talks to Claude and Cursor
SlopBill uses your own login to read your own usage, and nothing else. For Claude, and for the default Cursor option, it uses the same private web addresses the official apps use behind the scenes. Those aren't officially supported, so they could stop working one day. If that happens SlopBill just shows less; it won't break. Cursor's admin-key option is the officially supported one.
SlopBill only reads. It never gets around any limit. It checks about every 5 minutes, and slows down if a service asks it to. That's basically the same as you opening the dashboard yourself now and then. It isn't an official tool, so use it if you're comfortable with that.
Common questions
Do I have to pay for anything? No. You only need the Claude and Cursor plans you already have.
Why does it sometimes ask for permission again? It reads the login that Claude Code saved. Every so often Claude Code makes a fresh login, and your Mac asks once whether SlopBill can read it. Click Always Allow. It never reads it in the background, only when you open SlopBill.
Can people who aren't admins use the Cursor tab? Yes. The default option uses your own Cursor login, so anyone on a team can use it.
Could this get my account in trouble? It only reads your own usage, now and then, with your own login. It's the same info you already see on the dashboards. It doesn't get around limits or touch anyone else's data. It isn't official and uses private web addresses, so use it if you're comfortable with that.
For developers
Most people just run ./install.sh. If you want to work on the code:
./build-app.shbuilds the signed app. AddCONFIG=debugfor a quick build, orSIGN_IDENTITY="…"to sign with a specific certificate../dev.shbuilds and relaunches quickly while you make changes../Tools/make-signing-cert.shmakes a free certificate so your Mac stops asking for Keychain permission after each rebuild. No Apple account needed.
To give a built copy to other people without the "unidentified developer" warning, sign it with an Apple Developer ID certificate and notarize it, which needs a paid Apple developer account. Without that, people just right-click the app and pick Open the first time.
